It is a discipline for the analysis of social systems, which permit better understanding of the current situation, identification of future tendencies, and analysis of the impact of scientific and technological development upon society. This facilitates merging scientific and technological offer with current and future necessities of the markets and society. At the same time, the foresight exercises move the different social players into generating shared visions of the future, guiding long-term policies, and making strategic decisions in the present, given the local, national, and global conditions and possibilities.

WORKSHOP ON FORESIGHT IN NANOMATERIALS (October 20, 2007)

The Workshop on Foresight in Nano-materials was held on October 20, 2007 in the city of Ibagué – Tolima, sponsored by Colciencias and the Center of Excellence for Novel Materials - CENM. The Workshop had the participation of 23 researchers from different groups throughout the nation, including consultants and CENM staff who organized the Workshop. The Workshop also had a conference by Dr. Jason Cleveland, an expert in atomic force microscopy.
